Connecticut has hundreds of miles of roads that are suitable for touring, although some may have a high volume of vehcile traffic. Contact the CT Dept of Transportation for a free bicycle map (see Resources, below). It indicates recommeded bicycling routes and describes four scenic loop rides that range from 37 to 44 miles in length. Rhode Island is, for the most part, fairly densely populated with heavily-traveled roads. Block Island is crisscrossed by a network of roads that may offer safer cycling than on the mainland.
