| Bicycling in VermontMap | Bike Paths | Resources
Vermont's roads are generally quite good for bicycling. Most roads either have paved shoulders or have light traffic, although some roads near major towns may be more heavily traveled. Be warned, Vermont ain't flat--there are plenty of hills just about everywhere, especially in the Green Mountains which run north to south through the center of the state. Roads through the mountain passes, known locally as "gaps", are challenging climbs and may be too winding for safe cycling. Easier routes can be found along the eastern and western borders of the state. Map of VermontThe following map shows only the approximate locations of trails.
