Bicycle facilities: Pittsburgh has several bike paths and bike lanes. Cycling is an especially good way to see the historic Golden Triangle region near the convergence of three great rivers.
About the city: Pittsburgh (population 450,000) is known as the "City of Steel" because of it was once a center of the steel production industry but now is in the process of rejuvenating itself into a modern city.
Public transit: Certain buses are equipped with bike racks.

Pittsburgh Helmet Coalition promotes bike safety.

Bike trails: Eliza Furnace Trail is a 2.5-mile trail that connects downtown with the neighborhood of Greenfield. When completed, the Great Allegheny Passage will be a 150-mile trail connecting with the C&O Canal Towpath to form a 400-mile off-road route to Washington, DC.
Bike events: The Great Ride bicycle tour takes place in late July and follows a route throughout the city. Pedal Pittsburgh is a 15-60 mile tour of the city in mid-May.
