In spite of their small sizes, Connecticut and Rhode Island have plenty of opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast. Connecticut has one of the country's largest trail networks, the Blue-Blazed Trail, totaling over 700 miles. The compact size of the two states makes them ideal for cycling, though traffic may be heavy in some of the more densely-populated areas.
