Trails: 60-mile section of the hiking trail crosses the Litchfield Hills of northwestern Connecticut. From the New York border the trail follows the west bank of the Housatonic River northward then traverses the Housatonic State Park and Forest. It then forks off towards the northwest corner of the state where it crosses into Massachusetts just west of Mount Riga State Park. The Connecticut section of the AT is maintained by the Connecticut Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club.
Access fee: No charge for entry to Housatonic Meadows State Park. Donation to the ATC helps support the trail.

Points of interest: West Cornwall covered bridge was built in 1837. Music Mountain summer chamber music festival at Falls Village.

Getting to the trail: The southern end of the Connecticut section of the trail is about 2 miles southwest of Kent. The northern end of the trail passes into Massachusetts just west of Joyceville, CT. See Appalachian Trail Parking for a description of trailhead parking lots.
