Trails: About 30 miles of hiking trails crisscross the ridge. The Sleeping Giant Parks Association maintains the trails and offers more than a dozen guided hikes throughout the year.

Points of interest: From a distance the ridge appears to form the shape of a sleeping giant. A stone observation tower on the peak of Mt. Carmel affords a view of Long Island Sound and the New Haven area.
