Trail Name: Tunxis Trail
I have hiked there: Once
I last hiked there in: Oct, 2003
Trails that I hiked: Tunxis Mainline Southington Section
Favorite trails: The blue blazed Mainline and Bobcat trial
Best time to go: fall
Trail marking: Fair
Trail maintenance: Fair
Rating: 4 stars
What I liked: Some good view along the trail, some great views just off the trail
What I disliked: Some stream crossing are difficult, a lot of bogged areas that one needs to bushwack around. Signs marking trail sometimes in poor condition and unable to be read.
Comments: Starting from the begining of the trail in Southington, the climb to the top of the ridge is a very gentle grade. The top of the ridge line flat and for quite a ways well blazed and easy to follow. After about three miles the trail intersections can be very confusing. Be prepared to cross deep streams in a few spots.
