Away from the hustle and bustle of its major metropolitan centers New York has plenty of hiking areas, even within an hour's drive of New York City. Trails are located in three major regions: the Finger Lakes, Adirondacks and southern NY. Hiking Trails in New YorkThe following map shows only the approximate locations of trails.
Hiking Trails of New YorkThe eastern terminus of the North Country National Scenic Trail is Crown Point at the southern end of Lake Champlain. So far, the only completed section of the trail in New York is the 360-mile section of the Finger Lakes Trail System from southeast of Syracuse to Allegany State Park. The Long Path is a 300-mile hiking trail from Fort Lee to Albany.
