Annual end-to-end hike of the 37-mile Brandywine Trail in southeastern PA and northern Delaware has been a tradition for over 40 years.
Late April C&O Canal 100K One Day Hike Washington DC
Annual 100 km (62-mile) extreme dayhike of the C&O Canal from Washington, DC to Harpers Ferry, WV, $27 (2004). Fifty km and 80 km (50 mile) options are also available. A series of training hikes are scheduled from January to April.

More than 500 hikers have a choice of trails for all ranges of ability in support of the Red Cross. Entry fee: $35 to $60, including T-shirt, meals and entertainment (2004)
Mid July Prowl the Sproul Hyner, PA
Three-days of guided hikes in Sproul Forest for hikers of all ability levels hosted by the Keystone Trails Association, adults $30 (2009); camping, 10 k trail race, kayaking and meals available at extra cost
Mid Sept Susquehanna Super Hike York County, PA
25-mile hike or trail run challenge over the rolling river hills of the lower Susquehanna Gorge, $50-$85 (2009)
Mid Sept Bald Eagle Mountain Megatransect Lock Haven, PA
22-mile trail run with 5,200 feet of elevation gain (2003)
Mid Sept MS Challenge Walk Cape Cod
3-day, 50-mile walk on the Cape with overnight accommodations and all meals, $75 plus pledges (2003)

A four day series of hikes and interpretive walks, no charge (2005)
