Hiking at Grafton Notch State Park

Trails: Several trails and a section of the Appalachian Trail run through Grafton Notch State Park and along the nearby Mahoosuc Range. The recently developed Grafton Loop Trail loop makes its way east over Old Speck Mountain (elevation 4,170 feet) and Sunday Mountain. After crossing Highway 26 the trail ascends Puzzle Mountain and returns to the north side of Grafton Notch and the AT. The 40-mile loop can be hiked in about four days.

Lodging: Several choices of accommodation are located at Newry, Bethel and the Sunday River Resort.
Camping: No campground in the park but several campgrounds are in the Bethel region. There are eight backcountry campsites along the Grafton Loop.

What I liked: Each trail was well marked and the area was pristine.
What I disliked: no dislikes
Additional comments: It would be a great addition to the info kiosk if a topographical map were added with the trails superimposed to give hikers an idea of the steepness of the trails.

Best time to go: Spring and Fall
Trail marking: Very good
Trail maintenance: Very good

What I liked: The why the trails look and how challenging they are. Also some of the views especially from Tablerock.
What I disliked: Sometimes they get really crowded in the summertime
