Trail Name: Fahnestock State Park
I have hiked there: Once
I last hiked there in: June, 2005
Trails that I hiked: The blue trail that begins about a half mile west of the park office at the Canopus beach parking area.
Favorite trails: This was our first and certainly not our last trip to hike these trails.
Best time to go: If you go in June, you may wish to consider early morning or find a dry spell. It was quite humid.
Trail marking: Fair
Trail maintenance: Very good
Rating: 4 stars
What I liked: Well maintained, continuously variable in effort to hike.
What I disliked: We packed out two garbage bags of trash and bottles that others left behind. But even this didn't detract from the awesome beauty.
Additional comments: Insect repellent. I'll bring it next time. The mosquitoes aren't as vicious as what I remember from Texas, but they still are bothersome.
