Trail Name: Lost Turkey Trail
I have hiked there: A few times
I last hiked there in: June, 2004
Trails that I hiked: Lost Turkey, and Old section of the
lost turkey.
Favorite trails: The Old section by far. The whole trail
is beautiful, but when you get in the back country it can't be
beat.
Best time to go: August
Trail marking: Very good
Trail maintenance: Very good
Rating: 5 stars
What I liked: Scenery is awesome. There is tons of
wildlife, and everything varies a great degree.
What I disliked: There can be a few snakes here and there,
but if you watch your step and have some snake shot you're
ok.
Additional comments: Follow the lost turkey trail from the
Burnt House section to the top of the mountiain. Follow the old
dirt road to the left for about 1-2 KM. Before you reach the
pipeline you should see a blacked out marker with some blacked
out arrows. Follow the blacked out section of the trail into some
truly unique wilderness. There are a series of beaver dams in
this wetland area plus camp sites. It's tucked away just enough
not to be disturbed, but maintained and traveled.
