What I liked: The scenery is great, it had many good places to stop for the night. I also like the waterfalls along the trail.
What I disliked: Well, towards world's end state park there was a lot of swampy ground, but this is just a minor discomfort.

Trail Name: Loyalsock Trail
I have hiked there: Several
I last hiked there in: Oct, 2003
Trails that I hiked: Entire LT and many of the Red X side trails.
Favorite trails: Entire LT, favorite parts include Double Run Road through Canyon Vista to World's End, miles 39-46, climbing Sock Rock, mile 0-0.6.
Best time to go: March-May, Sept-Oct, cool days in summer.
Trail marking: Very good
Trail maintenance: Very good
Rating: 5 stars
What I liked: Scenery is wonderful, especially near World's End State Park, trails are challenging but not impossible, my 8-year-old daughter just completed a 7.5 mile and 5 mile set of hikes including up and over Sock Rock to Little Bear Creek.
What I disliked: Areas that are accessible by car can be crowded especially during tourist seasons -- World's End, Canyon Vista, Haystacks. (I mean crowded by north central PA standards, I'm not talking down the Jersey Shore on 4th of July)
Comments: Twice I have encountered timber rattlesnakes, both times sunning in rocky areas (Lower Alpine view, Rock Stairs above World's End). It takes longer to descend Sock Rock than to ascend. Smith's Knob vista is beautiful but beware the descent heading toward mile 7 -- you would think the path is going off a cliff. I've never tried to climb back up the opposite way, I've always used RX-2 side trail to return to Bear Creek after Smith's Knob.

What I liked: the scenery was great but i grew up in Pennsylvannia so it was nothing new. The trail itself was a good hike with steep climbs that finished off by hiking along the hill tops for periods of time then getting right back into the hard and heavy.
What I disliked: I hate hiking through swamps. Luckily there werent very many. Its nice to walk around them and enjoy the wildlife but hiking through them doesn't make any sense to me
Comments: Personally its my favorite trail. Beginners beware, you get spoiled if you start from the east. The Loggers Path only goes as far as the Haystacks then this trail can turn into a monster at times.. That's what I like about it!!!
