Area name: Trumbull Old Mine Park Number of times riding the trail: Weekly I last rode there in: July, 2002 Trails that I have ridden: All. Favorite trails: Pequonnock River Trail Best time to go: Fall Trail marking: Fair Trail maintenance: Very good Rating: 4.5 stars What I liked: Access from numerous locations; part of a larger trail network; rarely crowded What I disliked: Off the beaten path is not marked and hard to follow. Comments: Part of a larger network of trails. If time permits keep heading north into Great Hollow area of Monroe and continue into Newtown, good stuff. Trail is intermittent, will have to contend w/ fairly heavy traffic (Rt. 25) for a time if going to Great Hollow from Old Mine park area. Suggestion: good system, could be great if trail is made continuous and extended through Newtown and beyond. Submitted by: Tom E from: New York City Date submitted: Oct 26, 2004

Area name: Trumbull Old Mine Park Number of times riding the trail: Several times I last rode there in: May, 2004 Trails that I have ridden: Most of them. Favorite trails: Best time to go: spring Trail marking: Very good Trail maintenance: Very good Rating: 4 stars What I liked: It is beautiful out there. I really love this area. It has everything, drops, single track, technical, casual, ect. I have been there probably about 20-30X in the year that I have lived in the area and everytime I go I find something new. There are great climbs and good downhills. What I disliked: Everyonce in a while I will be traveling down a trail and it seems like it just ends. There is always a nearby trail to jump on and go along the way. Comments: if you like to get muddy like I do go down there when it is raining and splash around. It is one of the best trail areas I have found in Fairfeild county. Submitted by: Amanda from: norwalk, ct Date submitted: May 31, 2004

Name of area: Trumbull Old Mine Park I have ridden there: A few times I last rode there in: August, 2003 Trails that I have ridden: The blue and white trails Best time to go: Spring-Fall Trail marking: Fair Trail maintenance: Fair Stars: 5 Favourite trails: Follow the blue or white trail markings for a while and then you end up in a web of trails close together (more like a skatepark for mtbikes.) All trails eventually end up to the main trail. Comments: From the entrance of the old railway bed, follow the wide trail along the river, once you past a fork in the trail (the other trail will go up into the woods) turn down a smaller trail down towards the river. Cross the bridge and you will be on the good part of the river. This place is more for expert bikers, with huge drops and ledges and some steep hills. Fun for everyone though. Area name: Trumbull Old Mine Park Number of times riding the trail: A few times I last rode there in: August, 2003 Trails that I have ridden: The old railway bed and the blue and white trails. I walked down the extreme caution section. Favorite trails: all of them, hard to remeber exactly Best time to go: spring, summer, fall Trail marking: Fair Trail maintenance: Fair Rating: 5 stars What I liked: I liked the diversity of the trails and the way most of them are near a scenic river. There was also a lot of fun stuff to jump off and ride over. What I disliked: Some trails are really rocky and slippery when they are wet. Comments: Take a side trail from the railway bed after it passes an fork with a smaler trail going uphill into the forest. There should be a bridge at the bottom of it. It is easy to be distracted onto fun looking side trails that get you a bit lost, but eventually you end up on a familiar trail. Just ride down river if you are lost. It will take you to a populated part of Trumbull. Submitted by: G. H. from: Connecticut Date submitted: Aug 14, 2003
