Area name: Blue Mountain
Number of times riding the trail: Several times
I last rode there in: Apr, 2005
Trails that I have ridden: all
Favorite trails: Limbo - supposedly a hard trail, but not so much if you're going downhill
Best time to go: Summer
Trail marking: Poor
Trail maintenance: Very good
Rating: 4 stars
What I liked: Great layout, beautiful scenery, nice small city nearby (Peekskill) for snacks and stuff.
What I disliked: Erosion from winter runoff still melting, LOTS of missing markers
Comments: Entrance to Blue Mountain is on Washington Ave, which also has a number of convenience stores. There's a good bar inside the Peekskill train station to have a cold one while you wait for the train back to NYC ($5 permit available at Grand Central or through mta.info)

Number of times riding the trail: Several times
I last rode there in: Oct, 2003
Trails that I have ridden: Most, if not all of them.
Favorite trails: No favorites
Best time to go: May-January, depending on snow/mud
Trail marking: Fair
Trail maintenance: Fair
Rating: 4 stars
What I liked: Nice, quick getaway from the city (1-1 1/2 hrs drive or take metro-north to peekskill) Some pretty challenging trails, some easier, so there's something for everyone. Some difficult climbs (I would rate toughest a 6/10-That's from a racer from VT who lived in CO for a while.) Some scemic spots, some areas for big hits/freeriders.
What I disliked: If you're one of those who worry about getting lost, I don't think the trails are real well marked. But there's really no place to get lost to, you're in the middle of the suburbs. Busy on weekends.
Comments: Beware of the shooting range on the East side of the mountain.
