Pennsylvania has more than 100 state parks, about 20 state forests and a national forest and shares a national recreation area with New Jersey. About half of Pennsylvania's state parks have campgrounds. Several parks rent modern (with indoor plumbing) or rustic cabins by the night or by the week. National Parks and Forests in PennsylvaniaDelaware Water National Recreation Area is shared with New Jersey. It offers several trails for hiking, mountain biking and cross-country skiing. No campgrounds are within the park, but several are located nearby. Allegheny National Forest is a 516,000-acre wooded area offering 16 campgrounds and trails for hiking, mountain biking and cross-country skiing.
