Trail name: Farmington Valley Greenway Times biking the trail: Weekly Date of last visit: August, 2005 Sections that I biked: Simsbury to East Granby. Weatogue to Avon. Avon to Unionville (Red Oak Hill)and then to Plainville Avenue My favourite sections of the trail: Avon town garage to Red Oak Hill Best time to go: Just after the last of the snow melts, till right after the first snow falls Trail marking: Very good Trail maintenance: Very good Rating: 4.5 stars What I liked: As a blader, the width, the smooth surface, the quiet. What I disliked: There should be Port-o-lets, and some water. Comments: The only hazards are those people who lack consideration for others. When on the path, stay to the right. As you approach someone, announce that you're "passing on the left". Considerate runners, and those who respect their knees, ankles, and hips, stay on the crushed stone areas. That said, the trails are a priceless gem, and a unique resource. Submitted by: Michael from: Simsbury, CT Date submitted: Aug 10, 2005

Trail name: Farmington Valley Greenway Times biking the trail: Few Date of last visit: June, 2005 Sections that I biked: I've done the Hamden-Cheshire and Farmington-Avon sections, distinctly different in scenery. My favourite sections of the trail: I like all of it, prefer Farmington-Avon because of less traffic. Best time to go: So far, just done in the Spring. Trail marking: Very good Trail maintenance: Very good Rating: 5 stars What I liked: Trail quality and the scenery. What I disliked: In the busy areas, moms with double-wide strollers and little ones snaking back and forth across the path. Comments: Most of this trail goes behind plazas and commercial parks, the are a lot of road crossings; many parking areas for the path; it will be nice when all the sections are connected.
