Trail description: The Border-to-Boston Trail is a 28-mile shared-use rail trail that, when completed, will connect eight communities between Boston’s North Shore and the New Hampshire border. Aprroximately 6 miles of the trail are on low-traffic roads between Boxford and Newburyport. In Newburyport the trail connects with the Coastal Trail network.

Points of interest: Essex National Heritage Area contains over 3,000 properties on the National Register of Historic Places. The Great Marsh lies along the coast between Salisbury and Newburyport.
Getting to the trail: Danvers is about 20 miles north of Boston. The MBTA commuter train runs to Newburyport. Bikes are permitted on board except during weekday rush periods.
