The Eastern Trail

Trail description: The Eastern Trail will eventually be an 80-mile off-road trail connecting Portsmouth, NH and Portland, Maine. Currently it follows low-traffic country roads between the two cities. The Eastern Trail forms a section of the East Coast Greenway.

Towns along the trail: Portsmouth (pop 27,000), NH, Wells (pop 8,000), Saco (pop 15,000), Portland (pop 65,000), ME

Trail map: A map is available on the ETA website. A guidebook can be ordered for $10.
Trail surface: Currently on paved roads, eventually will be gravel rail trail
