Luce Line State Trail

Trail description: The Luce Line multi-use trail travels 63 miles from Cosmos east to Plymouth, a western suburb of the Twin Cities. West of Winsted the trail has a gravel surface that may require wide tires.

Trail map: Available from the DNR and on the trail website
Trail surface: Crushed limestone on eastern 30 miles, natural rail bed on western end. A treadway for horseback riding parallels part of the trail.
Designated activities: Bicycling, walking, horseback riding, xc skiing, snowmobiling (west of Stubb's Bay Road)
Facilities on the trail: Reststops and toilets are located at several points along the trail.
Points of interest: The trail passes along the north shore of Lake Minnetonka.
Lodging: Twin Cities has lots of choices.
Camping: Thompson Lake Park in Cosmos has a campground
Bike shops: Twin Cities has several bike stores

Getting to the trail: Plymouth is on the west side of Minneapolis. The trail starts of Vicksburg Road, northwest of the junction of I-494 and Hwy 12. There are several parking lots along the trail.
