Trail name: North County Trailway
Times biking the trail: Several
Date of last visit: August, 2005
Sections that I biked: From Baldwin Place in Somers to Croton Manor
My favourite sections of the trail: Past Route 35 which connects with 202...beautiful landscape. Croton Manor Park is lovely also. After crossing from Railroad Park in Yorktown there is a pond ringed by purple wildflowers.
Best time to go: Spring, summer, or fall
Trail marking: Very good
Trail maintenance: Very good
Rating: 5 stars
What I liked: The Scenery is lovely, breathtaking. The layout is also good...you can't get lost, and there are frequent rest areas consisting of benches where you can take a break.
What I disliked:
Comments: Only hazard is there are a lot of children biking the trail, and you have to be very aware when they're riding toward you...they don't always have the common sense to realize that they need to make room to let you pass.

Best time to go: Spring to Fall
Trail marking: Very good
Trail maintenance: Very good
Rating: 4.5 stars

Trail name: North County Trailway
Times biking the trail: Several
Date of last visit: Apr, 2005
Sections that I biked: Entire Length (at one time or another)
My favourite sections of the trail: Definitely the Croton Reservoir Bridge (before it was a bike trail back there we would go in the Summers to jump off the bridge, illegal to do now).
Best time to go: Spring/Summer - Great colors in the Fall too
Trail marking: Very good
Trail maintenance: Very good
Rating: 4 stars
What I liked: My location to it, I can pick it up here in Mahopac with a short 1 minute ride.
What I disliked: Can become crowded during the Summer months but being aware of those around you will still make it an enjoyable ride.
Comments: I've been biking this trail for the last 7 years or so and will continue to do so as long as I live in the area. It is also a great way for me to get to work as I work at Yorktown Cycles just off the trail in Yorktown Heights.

Trail name: North County Trailway
Times biking the trail: Weekly
Date of last visit: May, 2004
Sections that I biked: From Eastview spur trail to Westchester/Putnam county line. Also, biked approximately another six miles into Putnam county on recently paved trail.
My favourite sections of the trail: The entire trail is very good to excellent. There is 2 short sections where you share the roadway with vehicles (total about a 1 1/2 mile). The road shoulder is wide making it fairly safe.
Best time to go: Spring through Fall.
Trail marking: Very good
Trail maintenance: Very good
Rating: 4.5 stars
What I liked: I appreciate the length, paved wide trail, no steep hills, and beautiful scenery.
What I disliked: Nothing comes to mind.
Comments: There are certain places where you must cross minor roadways. These places are clearly marked and the drivers are courteous. Personally, the most interesting point of interest is the bridge that crosses a reservoir. Not familiar with places to eat or stay.

Trail name: North County Trailway
Times biking the trail: Weekly
Date of last visit: Dec, 2003
Sections that I biked: Croton Resevior to Mahopac
My favourite sections of the trail: The bridge over the Croton Resevior is beautiful, Yorktown Heights is great for a stop at Starbucks, the Horse farm in Somers is beautiful and I take my bike to go shopping at the Baldwin Place Stop & Shop.
Best time to go: April - November
Trail marking: Very good
Trail maintenance: Very good
Rating: 4.5 stars
What I liked: It's a beautiful, safe, well maintained trail. Every town has something beautiful or interesting to offer along the trail.
What I disliked: Nothing.
Comments: Favorite sections, above has points of interest. Great food at Turco's, just off the trail (make right onto street then fist left) at the old railway station in Yorktown. For Starbucks, exit trail at Yorktown rail station, make right onto street and then left at end(at Firehouse), Starbucks is next to Firehouse.
