Trail description: 109 mile rail trail runs north-south through the Black Hills of western South Dakota. The Mickelson Trail is a Millennium Legacy Trail.
The Mickelson Trail Trek, a three day tour of the trail, takes place in mid-September.
Access fee: $2/day, $10/season (2004)

What I liked: Excellent trail. Well marked. Lots of interpretive signs. Ice cold water at every access point. Awesome scenery. Mostly secluded. Streams, waterfalls, tunnels, canyons. Sun & shade. Lots of variety.
What I disliked: Nothing.
Comments: Great views of Harney Peak & Crazy Horse Mountain. Very enjoyable for an hour, a day or longer.
