Long-distance bike paths in the state of New York are primarily along the New York State Canal System. Eventually there will be a total of 500 miles of trails along the canals. At present there are three major segments completed totaling 136 miles: Mohawk-Hudson Bikeway, Erie Canal Heritage Trail and Old Erie Canal State Park.
