Bike Path and Rail Trail Resources

Cape Cod Trails Conference - bike page has descriptions and maps of bike trails and road routes on the Cape.

Bruce Freeman Trail - a proposed 25-mile rail trail from Lowell to Framingham in Massachusetts along the route of the old New Haven Railroad. The proposed Concord River Greenway will link with the north end of the trail in Lowell and follow the Concord River to the Merrimack River.

Upper Charles Trail - a proposed 20-mile loop rail trail between Milford, Hopkinton, Ashland, Sherborn, and Holliston

Mass Central Rail Trail - development of a 100 mile east-west multi-purpose trail from Boston to Northampton is underway with about 25 miles currently completed in several short sections, including the Norwottock Rail Trail and Wachusett Greenways

MassBike - brief descriptions of dozens of bikeways and bike paths throughout the state are provided by the Massachusetts Bicycle Coalition advocacy group.

Massachusetts Department of Transportation - bike path page has links to several bike paths.

SouthCoast Bike Path - planned multi- use recreational path will run from the Rhode Island border through New Bedford, Fairhaven, Mattapoisett, Marion, Wareham, Buzzards Bay to Bourne and the Cape Cod Canal [Link not working 2008].
