Cross Vermont Trail

Trail description: A 86-mile multi-use trail is planned to run across the state connecting Burlington, Montpelier and Wells River. East of Montpelier the trail follows the old Montpelier-Wells River Railroad. West of Montpelier the trail will be on recreation paths.
About 26 miles of the trail is completed through Groton State Forest. Several other shorter sections of the trail are completed at various points west of Montpelier. Access fee: Optional membership helps support development of the trail

Additional comments: 2 miles from Plainfield minor detour around Land owner thru sand pit across hay field back on to trail.2 miles Route 302 near South Reygate part of trail. Trail ends @I-91.
