Trail name: Mountain Bay State Trail
Times biking the trail: Once
Date of last visit: August, 2004
Sections that I biked: Shawanow to Hatley
My favourite sections of the trail: The section between Eland and Hatley
Best time to go: Summer and Fall
Trail marking: Very good
Trail maintenance: Very good
Rating: 4.5 stars
What I liked: Very secluded and quiet. Much more so than most trails. Most of the trail is well away from roads. The section between Eland and Hatley passes through a large Bog. A pristine landscape. Nice historical information signs at landmarks.
What I disliked: Horse droppings in Shawanow county section. Gravel is too loose in Marathon County. The gravel there is not as good as most other trails.
Comments: More isolated than most trails. Lots of woods, lots of wildlife.
