Passes are required to enter most state parks. Many of Vermont's state parks have campgrounds. There are cabins and cottages available for rent in 11 state parks. National Parks and Forests in VermontMarsh-Billings National Historic Park is a former Rockefeller estate with a restored mansion, a museum and 20 miles of carriage roads through 550 acres of forest. There are no campgrounds on the estate. Green Mountain National Forest covers a large portion of the southern section of Vermont. The southern half of the Long Trail is combined with a section of the Appalachian Trail as they wend their way over the peaks of the Green Mountains. There are more than 100 miles of other day-hiking trails that connect to the Long Trail. Several resorts are located in the national forest and offer outdoor activities:
