Wisconsin has about 60 state parks and recreation areas, 26 state trails, 10 state forests, a national park and two national forests.

State Parks and Forests in Wisconsin

Wisconsin's state parks offer a wide variety of outdoor activities. Some of the parks that are popular destinations are:

Day or annual passes are required to enter most state parks and forests. State trail passes are required for bicycling, horseback riding and cross-countryy skiing on certain state-operated trails. Most of Wisconsin's state parks and forests have campgrounds.

National Parks and Forests in Wisconsin

Apostle Islands National Lakeshore offers 50 miles of hiking trails on the mainland and on several of the islands.

Chequamegon National Forest has 200 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, xc skiing

Nicolet National Forest has 140 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, xc skiing

Day or annual passes are required to enter national parks.
