Trails: The Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks grooms trails for cross-country skiing at two locations: the Jim Whisenhant Cross Country Ski Trails at Birch Hill Recreation Area and 15 km (9 miles) of trails on the Fairbanks campus of the University of Alaska.
Birch Hill has 34 km (20 miles) of groomed trails, including 9 km of trail lighted for night skiing. Birch Hill was the site of the 2003 Junior Cross-Country Ski Championships.

Comments: the best skiing in Alaska. Kincade in Anchorage is bigger but not better.

What I liked: Miles and miles of varied terrain, excellent grooming, pretty scenery
What I disliked: It can get cold.
Comments: Not much level skiing; a few hills where caution/braking are in order.
