Trails: There are 15 km (9 miles) of trails groomed for cross-country skiing at Hannagan Meadow Recreation Area. There are also some backcountry trails and unplowed forest roads in the surrounding Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest which may be used by snowmobilers. The 9,000-foot elevation in the White Mountains ensures plenty of snow, an average of 35 feet each winter.

Location of trails: Hannagan Meadow Lodge is about 22 miles south of Alpine on Route 191 near mile marker 232. Route 191 south of Hannagan Meadow is dangerous in winter due to many mountaino-side curves. Check the road conditions on the ASNF website.

What I liked: The Lodge and trails are very secluded in the woods. Some of the most beautiful trails and settings I have ever done.
What I disliked: Nothing
Comments: The Lodge provides great facilities and support for a great experience. Never had to get back into my car until we left. Trails are beautiful without any crowds.

Comments: Hannagan Meadow Lodge is nearby and has a nice restaurant and cozy fireplace for when you are done
