Trails: Lots of backcountry trails for experienced tourers. The lodge is situated at the 9,600 foot elevation so there is usually plenty of snow and possible avalanche hazards, so follow safety precautions.

Location of trails: The trailhead is about 2 miles east of Yosemite National Park and 12 miles west of Lee Vining and on the Tioga Pass Road (Highway 120). The lodge is a 6.5-km ski from the trailhead, but snowcat transport may be available. Highway 120 through Yosemite Park is closed in winter.
