Trails: In Yosemite National Park 42 km (25 miles) of trails are groomed for classic and skating cross-country skiing at the Badger Pass Cross Country Ski Center. The highlight of the area is the 17-km groomed trail to the spectacular viewpoint at Glacier Point. The Nordic Holiday Race in February, the longest running ski race in California, features a race to Glacier Point and back. There are also more than 300 miles of unplowed roads and backcountry trails throughout the park, including those among the Mariposa Grove of giant Sequoias and at Crane Flats. The Badger Pass trails are about 10 miles south of Yosemite Village on Highway 41. Cars must carry tire chains in the park during the winter. Check the Yosemite road conditions on the park's website.
