Trails: At Montecito Lake Lodge (formerly Montecito-Sequoia Lodge) there are more than 30 km (18 miles) of trails groomed for cross-country skiing--both classic and skating techniques. There are also lots of backcountry trails in Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park and the Sequoia National Forest.
There are also some trails suitable for skiing a little further south in Sequoia National Park at Wolverton Meadow and among the giant sequoia trees in Giant Forest. Trail fees: National Park entrance pass $20/vehicle for 7 days or $30 annual or America the Beautiful Pass

Lodging nearby: Grant Grove Lodge (9 historic cabins) and John Muir Lodge (36 rooms) at Grant Grove are operated by the park concessionaire. Further south in Sequoia National Park, Wuksachi Lodge has 100 rooms.

Location of trails: Montecito Lake Lodge is located at 63410 Generals Hwy (Highway 198), about 8 miles south of the west entrance to Kings Canyon National Park and about 60 miles east of Fresno. Wuksachi Lodge and Giant Forest are 17 to 25 miles south of Montecito. Check the road conditions at CalTrans or on the park website before leaving.
