Trails: About 50 km (31 miles) of trails are groomed for cross-country skiing (skate and classic) at various locations around the town of Telluride. Telluride Nordic grooms trails at the Town Park (6 km), Trout Lake Railroad Grade, and Priest Lake. On Topaten Mountain accessed by a gondola 10 km of trails are maintained by the resort. Another 12 km of trails around the resort are groomed by the town.
There are also some backcountry trails in the Umcompaghre National Forest. If you are interested in a multi-day backcountry ski trek, the five huts of the San Juan Hut System are spread out over a trail connecting Telluride, Ridgway and Ouray. The town is a couple miles east of the resort. Topaten trails are accessed by a gondola ride. A gondola provides free transportation between the resort and the town.
