Trails: Chicken Creek Cross Country Ski Area offers 15 km (9 miles) of trails groomed for cross-country skiing (classic and skating). From the trails at the 8.500+ foot elevation there are scenic views of the Mancos Valley, La Plata Mountains, and Mesa Verde National Park. Several other ungroomed trails are nearby in the San Juan National Forest.

Location of trails: Chicken Creek is about 5 miles north of Mancos. Go 2.5 miles north on Highway 184 to County Road 40. Turn right (north) on County Road 40 and continue 2.5 miles to the trailhead parking lot.
