Name of XC Area: Michaywe Resort
Times that I have skied there: Once
I last skied there in: Jan,
Trails that I skied: Most of them, all of the black diamonds, the difficult trails through the woods.
My favorite trails: They all were very good, especially the ones through the woods.
Trail marking: Fair
Trail grooming: Fair
Rating: 4 stars
What I liked: Nice scenery, runs along the lake and through the woods. Grommed nicely. Very long trails. Lots of maps along the way.
What I disliked: Although there were lots of maps along the way, there were times where we did get lost in the woods and a few other intersections where there were no maps. Would be good if you could get one to take with you.
Comments: This place was great! We actually skied there Janury 19th, 2002, although the dropdown bar does not have 2002 on it. When we got there, there was a sign on the door said that the trails were closed due to budget cuts and were told by an employee that the trails were not "officially" opened or groomed. We found out that they were open and actually groomed. Don't know what the deal with that was. Anyway, it was great! Very long trails, nice scenery, good for beginers too. The black trails through the woods were not grommed, but there were trails cut by other skiers. We only skied about half the trails but that even took three hours. I would go there again! By the way, there was no charge for skiing there, although I read in a magazine that there was a box to leave a donantion for trail maintenance in which I didn't see.
