Trails: The Upper Gunflint cross-country ski trails extend 70 km (43 miles) along the shore of Gunflint Lake in the Laurentian Highlands. All the trails are groomed for classic and about half of them have a skating lane. The Banadad Trail connects the Upper and Lower Gunflint Trails. Due to its northern location, the Gunflint's annual snowfall is usually more than 100 inches, generally lasting from late November through early April.
Trail fees: Adults $12, youths $6 (winter 2009-10), weekly and weekend passes are also available

Location of trails: The eastern end of the Upper Gunflint Trail is about 45 miles north of Grand Marais on the Gunflint Trail (County Road 12). Park at any of the lodges and buy your trail pass in the lodge. Check the MN DOT road conditions before driving.
