Name of XC Area: Bear Notch Touring Center Times that I have skied there: A few times I last skied there in: Feb, 2004 Trails that I skied: trails in the back of property and the river trails My favorite trails: trails on the hill side Trail marking: Poor Trail grooming: Poor Rating: 0.5 star What I liked: The trailing system was very nice especially the hillside. What I disliked: Some of the trails were not tracked and dog feces was found on the trail. Comments: I would not recommend this trailing system because they allow dogs to roam the trails. We encountered 5 dogs and dogs feces on the trails. One dog became over anxious and knock me over on my skis and I was injured. All other trailing systems do not allow dogs on them. Name of area: Bear Notch Touring Center Times that I have skied there: Several times I last skied there in: Feb, 2001 Trails that I skied: Most of them My favorite trails: They have numbers, not names, so I don't remember. Trail marking: Fair Trail grooming: Fair Rating: 3 stars What I liked: Trails wind through wooded areas and fields dotted with streams; good scenery. Trails offer something for all skill levels, with meadows for beginers to winding hills for experts. What I disliked: Grooming is hit or miss: the trails are not groomed every day, so if you come at the wrong time the conditions can be somewhat spotty. Most of the time, however, the trails are fine. Comments: An excellent bet for a Saturday or Sunday if you're looking to avoid the crowd at more popular areas. Homemade soup is excellent, but the rental facilities look sparse.
