Hazen's Notch Ski Trails

Trails: Hazen's Notch Association, a not-for-profit conservation organization, grooms 67 km (40 miles) of trails for cross-country skiing. There are lots of single track, some double track, and some skating lanes. Trails range from easy to difficult, with lots of intermediate sections. There are some backcountry trails, including a section of the Catamount Trail. Full-moon snowshoe tours are offered monthly throughout the winter. The Bill Caney Memorial Ski Tour takes place in January.

Directions to the trailhead: Hazen's Notch ski center is 1.5 miles east of Montgomery Center on Route 58 (1419 Hazen's Notch Road). Note that Hazen's Notch Road east of the center is closed during the winter so the only access to the trails is via Montgomery Center.

What I liked: Trails are impeccably groomed and the scenery is the absolute best in Vermont.
What I disliked: Few of the trails are groomed for skating.
Comments: Snowshoeing trails to summits of Sugar Hill (1,700' El.) and Burnt Mountain (2,800' El) are beautiful and provide incredible views of northern Vermont. Check out their new website and snow report at www.hazensnotch.org
