Trails: Prospect Mountain Cross Country Ski Center offers 35 km (21 miles) of trails that are groomed for cross-country skiing (classic and skating). There are several trails of each level of ability Easiest, Intermediate and Expert. The Expert trails crisscross the slopes of a former downhill ski area. There are also some backcountry trails in the Green Mountain National Forest. The base elevation of 2,250 feet at the center ensures better snowcover than the surrounding lower lying areas. A Moonlight Dinner and Ski Tour are scheduled monthly.

Location of trails: Prospect Mountain Cross Country Ski Center is is located on Route 9 in Woodford, 7 miles east of Bennington. From the east, take Exit 2 off the I-91 in Brattleboro, head west on Route 9 through Wilmington for about 14 miles to the west side of Woodford. At a large bend in the highway Prospect Mountain is on the south side of the road.

Comments: More snow than you would believe! Definitely worth the 4 hour drive from my house. Great early and late season skiing when everyone else here in northern Vermont is closed.

What I liked: The trails are wider than most areas, making skating super-easy.....skaters can even pass each other on most trails. Most of the time there are classic tracks on both sides of the trails as well
What I disliked:
Comments: Best Hot Chocolate and Soup in Bread Bowls and Chicken Sandwhiches!
They have snow even when Bennington...only 8 miles down hill has green grass

My favorite trails: love the catamount and whistlepig trails, chicadee is TONS of fun too!

Likes and dislikes: ALWAYS great snow! even when others dont have it -even north of here!!! have even taken the 3hr drive (each way) for day trips! good food in lodge
