Trails: Stowe Mountain Resort grooms 35 km (21 miles) of trails at their Cross Country Ski Center. Almost all the groomed trails are rated Intermediate, except for a couple that are Easy and one that is considered Advanced. There are additional 45 km of backcountry trails. The Stowe mountain trails link with the Trapp Family network. Every year since 1945 the Stowe Derby takes place from the top of Mt Mansfield down the Toll Road and the Stowe Recreation path to Stowe village, a distance of 10 miles. A free shuttle bus runs two or three times every hour between Stowe village and the mountain. The road north of Stowe Mountain Resort to Smuggler's Notch is closed in winter.
