Trails: Anvil National Recreation Trail 20 km (12 miles) of trails are groomed for cross-country skiing (skate and classic) by the Nicolet National Forest. Four loops range in degree of difficulty from beginner to expert. A trail links to Nicolet North.

Location of trails: The Anvil National Recreation Trail trailhead is about 9 miles east of Eagle River on Highway 70. Parking lot is on the south side of the highway. Two other accesses are on Forest Road 2178, to the west, and on Forest Road 2460, to the east.
