Trails: The Red Cedar State Trail is a 20 km (14 miles) rail trail that is groomed for cross-country skiing. The flat trail winds along the west bank of the Red Cedar River to end at the Chippewa River State Trail (used for snowmobiling).

Location of trails: The Red Cedar State Trail runs from Menomonie south to the Chippewa River. Parking lots are located in Menomonie (on Highway 29 just west of the river), in Irvington at the intersection of County Highway D and Paradise Valley Road, and in Downsville near the intersection of Highway 25 and County Highway C.

Likes and dislikes: Long, beautiful sections adjacent Red Cedar River. Hard wood trees. Blue ice cliffs 1.5 miles from Menomonie trail head. Turkey and Eagle common. Trail is flat, absolutely no hills. Usually well-groomed.
