Uller Trail
Description | Ratings
Trails: The 30 km (18 miles) Uller Trail is groomed for cross-country skiing by Penokee Rangers volunteers. The challenging linear trail runs through the Penokee Range between Whitecap Mountain and Montreal. A 5 km spur ties in to the town of Iron Belt. Due to the Uller's isolated location, it is important to follow the proper winter safety procedures.
Trail fees: Donations can be made to help support the trail grooming (winter 2009-10)

My favorite trails: Uller
Trail marking: Very good
Trail grooming: Very good
Rating: 4.5 stars
What I liked: Wonderful single track winding up and down around a valley. I particularly loved the long insane winding downhills.
What I disliked: Wood at the warming hut was green.
Comments: This is not for the beginning skier. Even in the best of conditions, it can be a challenging trail. However, the scenery is perfect, the downhills are exciting, and the people we met were all backcountry ski types (little lycra).
