Times that I have skied there: Several times
I last skied there in: Dec, 2005
Trails that I skied: all
My favorite trails: Purple, green
Trail marking: Very good

Rating: 5 stars
What I liked: Nordic heaven. It doesn't get any better than this. For southern WI, the trails hold snow amazingly well.
What I disliked: Just wish it snowed earlier and stayed longer in the spring.
Comments: Challenging trails, great place for a serious hill climbing workout. Trails are not too wide, keeping an intimate feeling.

Name of XC Area: Kettle Moraine State Forest Northern Unit
Times that I have skied there: Several times
I last skied there in: Feb, 2003
Trails that I skied: Zilmer trails
My favorite trails: Yellow Loop, but all are great.
Trail marking: Very good
Trail grooming: Very good
Rating: 5 stars
What I liked: Scenery is beautiful! Pine forest, hardwoods, prairie, everything in between. Some challenging, fun hills on the yellow loop will get your heart rate up. The easier trails are also beautiful, the shortest trail is mainly through pine forest where snow cover can be spotty.
What I disliked: After a good snow dump it can take a day or two for the yellow trail to be groomed properly; they groom the shorter trails first.
Comments: Bring snacks/water, the closest refuel stop is 15 minutes drive.
