Name of XC Area:Tilson Creek Trail Area number: MN3 Times that I have skied there: Weekly I last skied there in: Mar, 2003 Trails that I skied: Tilson Creek My favorite trails: Tilson Creek - County Extension toward VNP Trail marking: Very good Trail grooming: Very good Rating: 3.5 stars What I liked: Tilson is a well maintained trail (given the usually sparce snowfall). It has several loops of varying lengths. It has many turns and is rolling in spots but definitely not too technical. You can skate it or classic. What I disliked: Its narrow in places - if you're skating you'll need to double pole through some spots. Its rocky in places too. Immediately, upon starting out of the parking lot you must cross a relatively open bog area. Comments: There are plenty of hotels/motels in International Falls (10 miles to the West) including a Holiday Inn, Super 8 and Days Inn. Also some resorts open in the winter. Other ski trails include a classic trail at Voyageur's National Park (generally not well maintained, a 1km lighted trail in the Falls and a very nice, new trail in Ontario, east of Fort Frances.
