Friendly staff at the ski rentals. What I disliked: Nothing to report Comments: A great bargain -- for $99 per person per night for a double, you get a trail pass (worth $15 per day); great dinner ($30-35), and a great country breakfast ($10-$15). I did ski back one time and it was quite a bit of work. Very scenic. Trails go right up to the cabins. Good variety for both easy and intermediate. More elevation changes than most other places. Name of XC Area:Lapland Lake Area number: NY41 Times that I have skied there: Several times I last skied there in: Jan, 2004 Trails that I skied: medium and difficult xc, and parts of their snowshoe trail My favorite trails: I don't know the names, but there is a diffult trail that branches off of their main easy trail "The Lake Trail" with lots of nice hills. Trail marking: Very good Rating: 4.5 stars What I liked: The trails offered many places for pictures, benches, etc. Also they are groomed, but include a place for skating and to go around other people. What I disliked: I can't find much wrong with their xc trails, but they could use more snowshoe trails, though the ones they have are nice. Comments: "The Lake Trail" is a great trail for kids and beginners. It has raindeer and ends in a lake, which is used for boating in the summer. This trail also has flood lights for night skiing. This is a real live touring center, like Stowe or Lake Placid. It's not as big and doesn't get as much snow but it's 22 miles away from my suburban Westchester home in Briarcliff. It's just a really well run facility! What I disliked: The ground is covered with snow and you're asking me to complain? What I disliked: ONLY WHEN THEY DON'T HAVE ENOUGH SNOW. OTHERWISE-TOPS. The scenery is second to none with overlooks and leantos for an occaisional break. What I disliked: Some of the trails close to the ski center tend to be a little crowded, this easily cured just ski the longer trails.
