Number of ratings for this region: 3

Name of XC Area: Crater Lake National Park
Area number: OR22
Times that I have skied there: Several times
I last skied there in: Dec, 2000
Trails that I skied: West Rim, Hemlock, Stewart Falls, Pacific Crest So.
My favorite trails: Stewart Falls, Pacific Crest, West Rim, East Rim
Trail marking: Very good
Rating: 4 stars
What I liked: View of the lake is unsurpassed, true backcountry experience can be found anywhere in the Park.
What I disliked:
Comments: Crater Lake is unsurpassed for snow depth, snow condition, beauty, and varying terrain/trail choices. Once you've skied there, you will want to return.
When severe winter storms are present, plan on skiing on some of the lower elevation trails like East Rim, Mazama Loop, PCT So., Stewart Falls/Pumice Flat. Wind and visibility can be difficult at the Lodge area then. With the exception of East Rim, the terrain is also milder , which reduces skiers' risk during high avalanche conditions. Conditions are updated daily at the visitor information centers and volunteer ski patrollers are on duty weekends and holidays for visitors' assistance and trail maintenance. For in depth information, check the Crater Lake Ski Patrol web site-http://webpages.charter.net/wheels432/wheels432/Home.htm

Name of XC Area: Meacham Divide
Area number: OR7A
Times that I have skied there: Weekly
I last skied there in: Feb, 2003
Trails that I skied: Every one! Loppet, Tillicum, Butcher, Whitman Whip, Kansas, ect...
My favorite trails: Roller Coaster and Ice Scream are exciting, as is the Pendleton Plunge. My favorite, though, is the Loppet which takes skiers out to a beautiful overlook in the woods.
Trail marking: Very good
Trail grooming: Fair
Rating: 4.5 stars
What I liked: There are many trails so one is never bored. Ther terrain constantly varies; any level of skier can appreciate and enjoy a trail. The long trail takes skiers out to beautifully groomed trails where one can ski by himself at a reasonable price while experiencing the solitude of the Blue Mountains.
What I disliked: There isn't snow year-round.
Comments: The trails are fun to ski, but donations are essential to maintain this relatively unknown jewel of nordic skiing.

Name of XC Area: Anthony Lakes Mountain Resort
Area number: OR7
Times that I have skied there: Weekly
I last skied there in: Mar, 2003
Trails that I skied: all
My favorite trails: black lake, college, elkhorn byway
Trail marking: Very good
Trail grooming: Very good
Rating: 4.5 stars
What I liked: excellant scenery and challenging trails. There are more than 13 km by the way.
What I disliked: After a storm the associated downhill area gets groomed first. You may have to wait for the grommer.
Comments: Beautiful mountain area and part of a downhill ski area. This is a rustic area devoted to skiing and not real estate development.
