What I liked: Nordic heaven. It doesn't get any better than this. For southern WI, the trails hold snow amazingly well.
What I disliked: Just wish it snowed earlier and stayed longer in the spring.
Comments: Challenging trails, great place for a serious hill climbing workout. Trails are not too wide, keeping an intimate feeling.

Trails that I skied:
My favorite trails:
Trail marking: Very good
Trail grooming: Very good
Rating: 4 stars
What I liked: I love the scenery and I love the challenge. This trail offers something for all skill levels from beginner to expert.
What I disliked: There isn't much to dislike about Tower Ridge. Most of my bad ski days came from lack of snow and they can't be blamed for that.
Comments: I like the fact that Tower Ridge also offers snowshoeing. It gives me a chance to still get a great workout by doing something a different.

Name of XC Area: Mirror Lake State Park
Area number: WI89
Times that I have skied there: Several times
I last skied there in: Feb, 2004
Trails that I skied: the trails rated difficult
My favorite trails: all
Trail marking: Fair
Trail grooming: Fair
Rating: 3 stars
What I liked: Trails are wooded, fairly gentle hills. I have brought several first time skiers here and most of them enjoyed themselves. The folks who were out of shape had a little difficulty. It is a nice quiet place with generally only local folks on the trails. They do a Candle light night ski twice a year which is fun.
What I disliked: I would like higher hills and more trails, who wouldn't. They could be groomed better, but the snowfall has been so poor the last few years it has not been worthwhile for them to groom.

Name of XC Area: Moccasin Lake Trail
Area number: WI51
Times that I have skied there: Several times
I last skied there in: Feb, 2004
Trails that I skied: I have skied all the trails at Moccasin Lake
My favorite trails: I like the outside loop and the Luge.
Trail marking: Very good
Trail grooming: Very good
Rating: 3.5 stars
What I liked: Just some very nice country. The outside loop has some great deer habitat on the southeast corner.
What I disliked: Not much, could be longer. Hopefully that may result as a group is interested in providing equine activites in the summer months. And I am sure that they would like longer trails.
Comments: There is no "mandatory" trail fee and donations are used to provide trail maintenance, upgrades to the shelter, etc...

What I disliked: the trail pass. isnt it enough that we pay for a state park sticker. first our car, now are feet.
Comments: if there is going to be a trail pass, it needs to be advertised better. there needs to be a sign saying this a double fee area. then explain the two fees, instead of saying this is a fee area(singular). i almost got a fine beacause i did not know about the trail pass, only the state park sticker.
